Yagotyn is a town in Kyiv Oblast with a population of over 20,000, located on the Supiy River. Its history dates back to the 10th century, when it was a fortified settlement for protection against invaders. The town experienced various periods of rule – from Kyivan Rus’ and Lithuania to Poland and the Russian Empire. From 1648 to 1781, Yagotyn was a сотенне містечко (hundreds town) of the Pereiaslav Regiment. The town is associated with Taras Shevchenko and Count Rozumovsky, which influenced its development. Today, Yagotyn is an important transportation hub with a railway and highways, as well as the center of the Yagotyn urban hromada.Wikipedia
