Located on the Giza Plateau, the tomb of Khentkaus I is a unique two-stepped structure built for the Queen Mother during the Fourth Dynasty. Originally thought to be a pyramid, it was expanded in the Fifth Dynasty, potentially intended as a full pyramid but abandoned due to stability concerns. The site includes a chapel with significant inscriptions revealing a previously unknown royal title, a boat pit for the Night Boat of Re, and a carefully planned settlement occupied by priests of her mortuary cult. Nearby are remnants of what may have been Khentkaus I’s valley temple and Menkaure’s valley temple. Wikipedia
