Fryderyk Chopin General Secondary School in Sochaczew, founded in 1926, is the oldest high school in the region. It was established thanks to the initiative of local leaders, and its building was originally designed in the style of a noble manor house. During World War II, the school conducted clandestine education, and resumed its activities after the war. The school actively fostered cultural and sporting life among students, and celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2016. The school is strongly connected to the figure of Fryderyk Chopin, born nearby in Żelazowa Wola, organizing competitions dedicated to his life and work.
