Cejlon, or Sri Lanka, is a beautiful island in the Indian Ocean, famous for its tea plantations and rich nature – monsoon forests, savannahs, and thorny scrublands. The island, covering 65.6 thousand km², features a diverse landscape ranging from lowlands to the southern plateau. Cejlon is also a paradise for treasure seekers – graphite is found here, as well as numerous gemstone deposits such as sapphires, rubies, and garnets, especially around Ratnapura. The most important cities are Kolombo and Kandy.
