Trenčín Castle, in northwestern Slovakia, towers on a rock overlooking a long history. Since the 11th century, it was a royal castle and an important border post, especially during the Turkish Wars. It is famous for the Treaty of Trentschin (1335), which reorganized relations between Bohemia, Poland, and Hungary. Over the centuries, ownership changed hands, including to Matthäus Csák and the Illésházy family, and the castle underwent numerous renovations, such as the Barbara Palace. Today, the castle houses a museum with exhibitions on its history, weaponry, and paintings of the Illésházys, offering a fascinating insight into Slovakian history.Wikipedia
