Mount Kosciuszko, the highest point in Australia (2,228m), offers a relatively easy ascent and is one of the “Seven Summits”. Named in honor of Polish hero Tadeusz Kościuszko by explorer Strzelecki, it is surrounded by rich, unique alpine flora, protected within Kosciuszko National Park since 1967. Its summit, accessible from Thredbo and Jindabyne, features spectacular glacial landscapes and a fascinating geological history, shaped by glacial periods and tectonic uplift. Wikipedia
