Canberra, the capital of Australia, is located within the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), an enclave surrounded by New South Wales. Established in 1911 after a compromise between competing states, the ACT was designed to be a neutral federal seat of government, now home to Parliament House, the High Court, and numerous government agencies. Originally inhabited by the Ngunnawal people, the area was settled by Europeans in the 1820s and experienced growth during gold rushes. Today, Canberra boasts a highly educated population, a strong economy, and significant national institutions, alongside the natural beauty of Namadgi National Park. Wikipedia
