Loucký klášter u Znojma, founded in 1190, is an important national cultural monument with a rich history. Originally one of the largest monasteries in Bohemia, it was associated with a number of rulers, such as Přemysl Otakar II and Rudolf of Habsburg. It experienced periods of both prosperity and decline, the Hussite Wars, and devastation during the Thirty Years' War. After its dissolution in 1784, it served various purposes, from barracks to a factory. Today, the monastery is partially leased to the Znovín winery and, with its architecture and library – part of which is housed in Strahovský klášter – it evokes its centuries of history and significance.
