In 2021, eleven significant European spa towns, including three in Germany and three in the Czech Republic, were designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. These historic spa resorts represent the heyday of the spa tradition from the 18th to the 20th century and were important centers for health, fashion, and early tourism. Characteristic of these towns is their unique spa architecture and the special importance they held in the development of global travel. The designation was made as a so-called “serial nomination” to recognize the diversity of these cultural sites.Wikipedia
