The Basilica of Saint Anthony of Padua, known as “il Santo” by locals, is an imposing 13th-century church and one of the main Catholic pilgrimage sites, attracting over 6.5 million visitors annually. It houses the relics and tomb of Saint Anthony, and stands out for its blend of architectural styles – Romanesque, Byzantine, Gothic, and Baroque – with notable features such as the domes and the equestrian statue of Gattamelata by Donatello in the square.
